Memory Makin’ Mom’s Summertime playlist

Hey howdy hey, it’s Friday! It’s also summer!!! And that means figuring out what we’re going to do today. And as Phineas would say, “I know what we’re going to do today!” We’re going to party! And what better way to party than to make our own Memory Makin Moms summer jams playlist?!

That’s right! If you’ve been reading our blog, you’ll know that my family loves the spotify app and service. It’s worth every penny! You see, my family loves music and this service provides more music at our fingertips than we could ever expect to consume. Don’t believe me? Check out my hubby’s blog and know that there’s no way that he’d be able to listen to so much without this service. And thankfully, all that music includes LOADS of Disney tunes! We enjoy playing a game (mostly in the car) called, “taking turns” where we each pick a song, search for it on spotify, and add it to a new playlist. It makes for a fun time that includes everyone in the game AND provides us with a playlist we can later enjoy and reminisce on whatever we were doing or wherever we were going. And the best part about searching for a particular song is that it shows you all of the covers of that particular song. I’ve found some really fun Disney albums that way that I would have never know about otherwise. (VoicePlay, Ragtime at the Magic Kingdoms, and Tom Ameen)

So, I’m thinking we extend it to you all too!! Help us make our own Memory Makin Moms Summertime playlist!

Comment here or on facebook, or tweet us with you and your kiddos’ favorite Disney song picks. I’ll compile the list to post for next week. Now, I realize that not everyone has spotify, so we’ll just share the list with everyone. Of course, there’s always Disney’s own music store and iTunes/Amazon stores for purchasing the digital songs too.

SOOOOooooOOOO, we’ll start it off! My pick first pick will always be “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” because that’s just my favorite Disney song. (And yes, it was my favorite long before I ever experienced the Carousel of Progress 😉 )

As for my girls’ picks, Boo chose “In Summer” because as she put it “that one HAS to be on a summer playlist!”  and Belle chose Let’s Go Fly a Kite. (And not just ANY LGFAK, she wanted the version sung by Mickey and pals. Thank goodness spotify had it!! Within a few seconds, we were singing along with Mickey, and hyuckin’ with Goofy. ^_^

So, what are you waiting for?! Let us know what your favorite summertime Disney song is and we’ll add it to the list! ~M °o°

*Disclaimer: We are a small, not-for-profit blog and this post is not sponsored in any way. This is just us sharing the things we enjoy.

Thank you! And Happy Fourth of July!

Hey howdy hey, it’s Friday! And I would just like to take today to thank you all for reading our little blog. I say that because life (and death) is hard sometimes, and it’s nice to be able to share all of my wonderful memories with you all. You see, over the last several weeks that I’ve been absent, I’ve been dealing with a whole lot death. Two funerals in one week to be exact. It’s been hard and writing about fun, happy Disney stuff was, just not happening… I’d like to say thanks first for your understanding and continued readership. We love sharing all the fun Disney stuff we possibly can and it means a lot to us knowing that you all enjoy it! I’m so glad to be able to share my little family’s Disney adventures with each and every one of you. Thankfully, finally getting back to writing about fun Disney stuff is definitely helping to restore some sense of normalcy for me. Sooooo, thank you! And you! And you! Oh, and you too! You’re all awesome and we truly appreciate you all!

Now, that I’ve gotten that out, (whew!) I’d like to just mention a little app and apparent craze in Japan that has just landed in the US called Disney’s Tsum Tsum. I saw it mentioned a few days ago and decided to download the free app (click here for both ios and android versions). I’m not gonna lie, it’s quite addictive and super cute. They’ve also got the actual plush Tsum Tsum’s available from the Disney store online as well as select stores across the US both in, and out of the parks.

I’m going to leave it at that for today since I know everyone is enjoying their Fourth! I’ll leave you all with a video I found from Epcot’s American Adventure. 🙂 Happy Fourth of July everyone! ~M °o°

Top 10 Ways to Enjoy Disney Infinity

Hey howdy hey, it’s Friday! And for today’s tech talk I’m once again taking it back to Disney Infinity. So, here’s my Top 10 ways to enjoy Disney Infinity:

2014-03-28 10.37.29

1: On Your Own

There’s so much to explore when it comes to the game and what better way to learn and discover all it has to offer than to just sit and play solo?! From playsets to toyboxes and everything and anything you can imagine in-between, it’ll keep you busy for hours.

2. With Family and Friends

Infinity is a great game to play solo, but adding friends for co-op play is even better! You can add a second player in both the toy box and the playsets. (Just remember that only characters from that world can play in the corresponding playset. Example: Rapunzel can’t play in the pirates world 😉 )

2014-03-28 02.14.31

3. In-Game Online Play

If adding another player was exciting for you, then adding 3 is Disney magic! By inviting players from your corresponding console’s online feature, you can add two more players to create an infinite amount of toybox playtime possibilities.

4. Disney Interactive Online

Did you know you can use your personal computer to login to your Disney Interactive account and link your console play stats with your account? Yep! Just head over to their website and start adding in your character figure codes. You can also check out stats like general game accomplishments and feats as well as individual character figure’s stats too!

5. Toy Box App

This app for the ipad (and soon for droids) allows you to sign-in to your Disney account (like you did in #4) and links your console play with the app. That means that you can use your own used figures to create toy boxes on-the-go and then play them on your system, when you get back home! There are more features as well like the Virtual Base which give you the ability to add character figure codes to your account and select which character you’d like to build with in the app.

6. Adventures, Mastery Adventures, and Character Adventures

The mastery adventures within the toy box mode are great for those new to Infinity and are looking to learn how to play and build within the toybox. And the Adventures available are great fun and feature a variety of gameplay styles, keeping kids who like to change games frequently entertained and happy. You can access them by choosing travel within the options menu from the toy box. (You can’t access them from within the playsets). The Character adventures, unlike the regular and mastery adventures, are specific to whichever character figure you’re using on your Infinity base at the time you access your toy box travel menu. Each one features something fun and different and the characters’ personalities, traits, items, and experiences are often represented in these special levels.

7. Infinite posibilities of the Toy Box

Dream of, create, build, and inspire whatever you wish when playing in the toy box. Start from scratch with an empty toy box or choose from both Disney created and user created toy boxes alike! The gameplay of the toy box is surprisingly easy to learn and my 5yo picked up in no time. Selecting and placing toy box items is easy if you think about it like a real toy box. You can play with whichever toys you want, just find them from the menu and place them wherever! You can even play online with friends to create an AMAZING toy box and accomplish feats and achievements only possible when playing with 4 players!

 2014-03-28 02.08.13

8. Power Discs

Collecting the power discs is a whole other discussion, but let’s just say that there’s loads of potential for enjoying the power discs. Whether it’s collecting more gold or sparks, or  re-creating a favorite Disney movie classic setting complete with shapes, colors, and sounds from the movie the power discs help you customize your experience ever further. My personal favorites are the toy box gadgets like Mike’s new car and Carl’s walking cane. (Just so we’re clear, yes it IS more enjoyable to take out an evil omnidroid with a walking cane complete with tennis balls! Hah!) And what’s more? There’s even special bonuses when you use certain discs together!

 2014-03-28 02.10.59

9. Achievements & Trophies

Challenge yourself! Check out the list of feats and achievements, then go for it! And being an adult, I love that this game has achievements that are both easy enough for young kids to love attempting and difficult enough to keep the “kids at heart” entertained and challenged!  You can access your console’s achievements menu or login to your account online and check out all you’ve done. ^_^

Screen Shot 2014-03-28 at 12.11.48 AM

10. Conquer Challenges and Playsets

Each playset contains gold star missions for story completion as well as player challenges. The gold stars mark your progress througout the playset. The challenges, however, are hidden throughout the playsets and offer a different way to capture the collectibles and enjoy that portion of the playset in a different way. Some of them are available to access using any character figure and others are specific to the character it was created for. And there’s 3 levels of difficulty, so it’s a game that you can’t just sit down and beat in one sitting. THIS is a game that has plenty of playtime potential!!

So, that’s it! What do you think? Did I miss something? What would you add to this list? ~M °o°

Party Music and Freebie Friday

Hey howdy hey, it’s Friday again!! And since the ladies have been rocking the Disney parties this week, I figured I’d go ahead and post something to go along with that theme. So, let’s talk party music. (That’s my Disney tech reference. Nice tie-in, eh?) I’ve also designed and prepared another free printable!! And don’t miss out on downloading these because they won’t stay free forever!

2014-03-07 08.59.17

To start, anyone who’s ever been to a party knows that music is essential. And a kid’s Disney party is no exception! For me, my go-to is always Spotify. It’s just hands-down the best, easiest, and largest collection of music that you can get your hands on, all in one little app. Now, this app is not just Disney music. There’s tons of music on there and chances are you’ll like this app even if you have no need for Disney music whatsoever. I digress.

Screen Shot 2014-03-07 at 12.06.08 AM

The way I would go about setting up the party’s music is by opening up my spotify app and creating a custom playlist. You can add whichever songs you choose and re-order them as you please. And for a kid’s Disney-themed party, there’s loads to choose from. They’ve got everything from Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Minnie Mouse, and Sofia the First, to music featured in the parks, to old classics from the beloved Sherman Brothers songbook. And best yet, you can follow others’ playlists too! Simply search for what your party theme’s music, create and organize your playlist, and you’re ready to party! Open up the app on the day of and play using your sound system of choice. If you don’t have speakers that will work with a mobile device, never fear! You can always play your music directly from your desktop too. Imagine how epic your little Pirate’s birthday will be with the Pirates soundtrack  setting the mood!

Screen Shot 2014-03-06 at 11.48.50 PM

If you don’t have Spotify and don’t want to pay for it, then you have other options. I just look at it this way; if you’re planning to purchase ANY music at all for the party, you might as well pay the $9.99 fee for Spotify and get millions of songs. You’ll pay $10 for a cd wherever you go anyway. (Okay, unless you’re one of those lucky ones that find the gold inside those discount bins!) And with the paid subscription, you don’t have to ever worry about commercials. BIG plus in my book.

Okay, okay. If you’re still not sold on spotify, you can always check out Disney’s own digital music store. They’ve got loads of music as well.  I have to say, however, that although the purchasing process is easy, I’ve not found the downloading files portion to be quite as user-friendly. Hey, don’t shoot the messenger! And for even more music, I’ve also pinned some over on our MMM Disney Music board.

Mickey Party Banner-SamplePhoto1

And to round out this little party post, I’ve designed a Disney-inspired party banner and for a limited time it’s free for you to download! Just click here! This is something that I’m so excited to share and while I wish we could keep these free forever, once they go in our own “vault” (hey Disney fans, see what I did there?) you’ll still be able to access them, but they will cost a small fee. This small fee will help us build funds and eventually start giving away prizes for Trivia Tuesdays. So please like, comment, and share this post to everyone who might want them so no one misses out. And thanks for following along. And remember, there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day ~M °o°

p.s. I can’t wait for chat tomorrow at our first-ever Memory Makin’ Moms Disney Planning (google) Hangout!! SO exciting!!

M’s Top Ten Reasons You’ll Want to Download Disney’s new app

Hey howdy hey! Meredith back with this Friday’s dose of Disney tech. And today’s is a doozie! So just what am I talking about exactly? The nifty little addition to your Disney digital library called Disney Movies Anywhere. I just happened upon this yesterday and have to say I am so impressed I just had to post about it today! So here we go. The top ten reasons you’re going to want to go connect to and download Disney’s new Disney Movies Anywhere.

2014-03-07 10.56.01

1) It’s Free! Walt Disney himself was always about not only storytelling, but (as he put it) “plussing” the experience. And I think they’ve done just that to the way we experience Disney movies now. I like the idea because they’ve combined both the sorts of clips and fun videos that you’d find on their website with your own personal Disney movie collection into one easy-to-use app. Okay, so maybe not as easy to use for a 2yo (I did test it on Belle and she did okay; not great) but my 5yo got around just fine.

2014-02-28 02.43.26

2) Parental Controls. This has been a big pet peeve of mine when using the videos app on our iPad with the girls. Currently all of our digital copies show in the movies tab and we haven’t been able to find a way to filter the results to show only certain movies. But worry no more!! All of our fun Disney movies (the same ones that we were watching over in the videos app) are now happily situated within the the new DME app. That means, that we no longer have to worry about the girls seeing the other movies that are linked to our account. And don’t get me wrong, we’re not purchasing outrageous stuff, but I’m glad that I don’t have to worry about her getting curious and watching a few minutes of the Hunger Games! ^_^ And it gets even better because you can actually go into the settings in the DME app and select which parental settings are acceptable to view. And you don’t have to worry about the kiddos changing the setting either because it requires you to sign-in using your login info to make those changes. Love that!!

Love the parental controls!
Eh! Eh kiddos! Mom and Dad have to sign-in to make these changes!

3) Free Digital Copy of The Incredibles! When you link your Disney account to your iTunes account, you’ll automatically be rewarded with a free digital copy of The Incredibles and it becomes immediately available in both iTunes (so yes, you can still watch it from your Apple tv) and the DME app and website. Who doesn’t love free movies??

4) Stream OR Download your Collection’s Movies within the app. This new approach allows you to have your favorite Disney titles with you wherever you are because you can simply go to your collection and hit play on any movie you own. No more worrying about having enough space on your device for the download! However, should you want to download your owned movies, you can download them directly from and play them with the app as well. This is great for things like car rides because if you’re like us, we don’t have cell service on our iPad.

All your Disney movies in one conveniently streamable place

5) Stream your movies on two devices at the same time! This is great for those who might have kiddos with different opinions about what’s best to watch at that moment. It’ll also come in handy when you want to watch something while the kids are watching too. I’m not gonna lie, I like watching our movie collection as much as they do!

6) Download new titles directly from the app. Now, I know I’ve been saying “directly from the app” way too much already, but this is pretty cool. It does NOT redirect you to iTunes to make your purchase! A little iTunes window pops up within the app and allows you to purchase right there! And the points that are available for purchasing that title will be immediately added to your DMR account! And no worries! Your title also becomes available on your iTunes account.

Before and After screenshots from my iPad of my Enchanted purchase within the DME app. And yes, I proceeded to hum “True Love’s Kiss” as I created this little collage ^_^

7) Apply DMR codes easier than ever. If you don’t already have a Disney Movie Rewards account and own any Disney titles at all, well the you could be earning cool rewards and products! Just click rewards from the bottom menu and enter your codes. So much easier when you’re a Mom and just can’t be bothered with stacking up all those movies to take to the computer to enter in all of them. (And yes, that was me two years ago). Linking your DMR account is important too because I found that two titles (Robin Hood and The Sword in the Stone) were both right there in my collection because I had purchased copies with the digital copy and the code I entered way back when reflected that. The digital copy however, was NOT through iTunes and we’d never been much for watching with the amazon streaming app, so we just never used those digital copies. Now, with Disney Movies Everywhere, we can stream those too!

Use the app’s Enter Code page to redeem your DMR’s

8) The Discover tab. Not only can you stream your own collection, and browse the archives (which yes, it will tell you if the title is currently in the vault or not), but it also has a wonderful little section called Discover. We watched several of the random videos covering all sorts of Disney topics from the most current Frozen clips to classic Goofy cartoons and really enjoyed the variety. There’s loads to explore and I can’t wait to watch more of their behind-the-scenes clips! I watched one earlier today and man, I just love hearing the history behind the characters well all know and love so well and am so happy they’ve added this little gem.

 2014-02-28 02.17.43

Don’t skip out on the Discover portion of the app too!

9) Favorites. Not only can you browse and discover both new and timeless titles, features, and clips, but you can save them all in one convenient place too! Like other social apps, you can “heart” your favorite clips and videos and know that they’ll always be right where you left them. And believe me, as a Mom who knows all too well how a 2yo’s temper-tamtrum can escalate quickly if Mommy can’t find what what she wants fast enough.

What would you heart in your collection?
What would you heart in your collection?

10) Bonus Features. Confession: I’ve always hated that the animated shorts that accompany the Pixar titles never accompanied the digital copies. But now, I’m so happy to see that they’re finally back with their movies and located on the same page as the movie title within your collection. And this includes not only the animated shorts, but any and all bonus features that accompanied your original purchased disc.

So what are you waiting for?! Give it and go and then let me know what you think. Have I forgotten something? What would you add to the list? Let us know by commenting below or chatting with us over on fb!

Have a great weekend and remember, there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day! ~M °o°
