A Guide to Pixar Fest at Disneyland

Pixar Fest is in full swing at the Disneyland Resort! Check out everything you need to know about this awesome event!

A Guide to Pixar Fest at Disneyland

Pixar Fest is all about Celebrating Friendship and Beyond! Both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are participating in fun-filled Pixar inspired foods and wonderful offerings to keep you entertained all day. This post will be mainly focusing on all things Disneyland related for Pixar Fest, so let’s dive right in!

Sugar, Sweets, and Treats Oh My!

What day isn’t complete without food?! There’s A TON of options for you to choose from! If you’re just feeling popcorn with a drink, Sulley from Monsters Inc. popcorn buckets are for you. They even have a matching Mike sipper to go along with it! Whatever you’re feeling that day, I guarantee there’s going to be something that entices you! There’s everything from sweet to salty to everything in between. Personally, I absolutely recommend the little green alien macarons from Pizza Planet (formerly known as Pizza Port) and my all time favorite Salted Caramel Pecan Sundae located on Main Street!

If you’re looking for a table service meal, Disney’s got you covered. At Carnation Cafe on Main Street, you have the opportunity to bring out your inner Carl Fredricksen from UP and enjoy a T.V. dinner inspired dish. If you’re looking for a dining package for the Pixar Play parade, Disneyland also has that too!

The Pixar Day parade dining package at Plaza Inn (right outside of Tomorrowland) offers a picnic-inspired meal that includes a chicken breast and a leg, watermelon salad, and much more. You’ll be provided with an exclusive FastPass that’ll grant you access to a special viewing area! Download the Disneyland app for a list of full menu items.

Pixar Play Parade

The Pixar Play Parade is a must-see! Some of you might remember when it used to run in DCA. There have been some changes, and new float has been added! Make sure you grab your seat early because this is one show you won’t want to miss! Warning: there is water that gets shot into the audience. I wasn’t totally prepared for that, but overall, this parade is so much fun and the music is very catchy!

Annual Passholder Exclusive Items

You heard it here first! Pixar Fest not only has sights and sounds for everyone, but Annual Passholders have exclusive merchandise! Check out Disneyana where you can find all things Annual Passholder related. That includes exclusive Pixar Fest shirts, mugs, and more! Make sure after grabbing all your AP merch that you head over to Disney’s California Adventure for an exclusive AP corner right across from the Silly Symphony Swings! Lastly for AP’s, refillable souvenir popcorn buckets will be coming at the end of April for all you’re popcorn loving times at Disneyland!

Looking for some sweet Pixar Fest merchandise? Disneyland’s Main Street Emporium has you covered! You can find everything there! Although fair warning, the Emporium does get crowded fast. Select stores throughout the park offer Pixar Fest merchandise like the Little Green Men store in Tomorrowland! For all you pin traders, there’s also a limited release Pixar Fest pin, so make sure you get yours right away!

During Pixar Fest, you’ll never get bored! Grab a map and a show guide on your way in or download the Disneyland app to schedule your day or let your conscience be your guide… to food! Food is always the way to go!  If you get the chance to go to Pixar Fest, let us know what you think of everything! Set Sail With The Pirates League Aboard The Disney Dream

Pirate Roo

The Pirates League

Ahoy me hearties! We recently returned from our second Disney cruise aboard the Dream, and wanted to share with you about a new experience we enjoyed. As if Pirates Night isn’t enough fun, we booked reservations for Tigger and Roo at The Pirates League on board the ship. This experience is available by reservation only for guests ages 3 and up on Pirates Party Night in the Bibbiddi Bobbidi Boutique.

Pirates League Packages

Packages for the Pirates League are very reasonably priced and include not only a pirate makeover, but also Pirate souvenirs! Here is a breakdown of your choices:

All pirates need tattoos, right? Your little one will be given a tattoo on their hand, and if they are anything like my youngest, the pirate skull and cross bone tattoo will be a huge hit!

**Sidenote**I’m not sure exactly what to call the sweet cast members who do the makeovers for the Pirates League. I wouldn’t think they are Fairy Godmothers like at Bibbiddi Bobbiddi Boutique, but who knows. Maybe they are called wenches. **

The makeup process is fairly quick for the amount of product that is put on your children’s face during the makeover. New makeup and brushes are used on each child so you don’t have to worry about germs.

Keeping It Real

Just a friendly word of advice, the makeup used during the transformation is legit makeup. To put a positive spin on it, I would say that I was very surprised with how well the makeup stays on. This won’t be something that just flakes off. To give you a “keeping it real” perspective, we had to do some serious scrubbing to get it off, hence the scrub marks on my kids cheeks! Therefore, I would recommend bringing some very good makeup remover, baby wipes or coconut oil to help with the removal. Otherwise, you will end up making a trip to the spa before you disembark on Castaway Cay to try some of their specialty makeup remover so your 5-year-old doesn’t look like Jack Sparrow all day. Don’t ask me how I know this.

Pirate Oath and Loot

Your child will receive a sword, pirate sash, bandana, pirate necklace and earring after their makeover is complete. Once they have their pirate loot, it’s time to swear an oath of allegiance to the pirate code. My oldest son, Tigger, thought this part was hilarious. My youngest took it far more seriously. He still thinks he’s a pirate.

We brought the clothes from home for Pirate Night, but they have options to purchase on board if you would like. The boys had a blast at the Pirate Party and got so many compliments on their looks.

My boys didn’t think it could get much better than meeting Mickey on Pirate Night dressed as a Pirate!

Set Sail With The Pirates League

If you are sailing with Disney and want to visit The Pirates League don’t wait too long to book! You will want to schedule your visit as soon as possible due to the popularity of this experience. You can secure reservations during your online check-in, and the makeover takes roughly 45 minutes. Disney Dream

The Pirates League is a truly fun and memorable experience before the Pirate Party on board. My family would recommend it! Yo-ho Yo-ho, it is definitely a pirates life for us!

Oh baby!!!!

Hey howdy hey, it’s Friday!! And boy do I have some big news for you all!!! If you hadn’t already noticed here recently, Sarah and Amy have been keeping this little blog going. And although I really love blogging here, I just haven’t felt like doing much of anything here lately. You see, I got sick several weeks ago and just couldn’t shake it. Finally, last Tuesday I went to the doctor and it turns out I’m perfectly healthy. Thing is, there’s just a little one in there that’s taking all my energy and making me oh so sick. Yep, I’m pregnant! (Again! lol) We’ll be expecting our third and last child in April of next year and I’m so excited to share this happy news with you all. I’m also super excited to share my last pregnancy with you too.

The minute I told Amy and Sarah, my gals already had a private pinterest board up and began filling it with Disney-themed pregnancy announcements. I really enjoyed going through all of them because some of them are absolutely adorable!! And while I would LOVE to have been able to announce my pregnancy with a photo of our family actually AT Walt Disney World, that’s just not gonna happen for us. (And besides, I’ve always thought that I’d never be able to enjoy a WDW vacation while pregnant. I mean seriously, the fatigue, the swelling, and the heat just are NOT things I would enjoy while expecting. Not to mention, I LOVE the rides!!)

I decided that my favorite option was just a simple photo. And thanks to the AH-MAYZING(!!) Peppermint Pig here it is!

2014-08-28 23.00.11

I first contacted my friend Jen and asked if she could make me some Disney-themed number shirts and she was so excited about the news and idea, that she was able to get me these fabulous little shirts asap. Thanks so much Jen, they’re perfect!! (And by the way folks, she does all sorts of Disney shirts for vacations, etc so be sure to check her out if that’s your thing!)

I’m going to keep this post short and sweet, and leave you with our Disney vacation video that we’ve been working on since May. It includes everything from my “Where are we going” game to the Disneyside party to Star Wars Weekends. It’s got it all!! So here it is folks, our last WDW vacation as a family of four! ~M °o°

The most Magical Disney CM

Hey howdy hey, it’s finally Friday!! And I’m going to chat just a bit about my photopass experience. Remember when I posted about how I lost all of my photos? Well, I’ve got an update for you all!

2014-08-15 16.50.40

This past Tuesday was a crazy day for me personally. Our car engine had completely died and we were looking at anywhere from $5000-$10,000 to fix it. So, needless to say, I was NOT having a great morning. My husband and I visited a local car dealership to see if we could get any trade-in money for it and purchase a new one. After leaving that dealership sans new car, I was quite upset because honestly I just wasn’t sure what we were going to do to solve our dilemma. As we pulled into our driveway that day, we noticed a large UPS box sitting on a chair under our carport. Tim asked me if I had ordered anything because the package said Disney Imaging and I told him that the only thing I had purchased was the digital downloads that I’ve already downloaded and shared with you all.

2014-08-15 16.53.00

We got inside and opened up the box to find a large WDW photo album filled with our photos!! I was shocked and completely speechless. Here I was having this terribly awful day and the Disney company delivers this little bit of incredible magic right to my door! It also included 4×6’s of 104 of our photos to add to the album or have framed, etc. There was no packing slip and/or printed receipt; only the album and photos themselves. I just couldn’t believe it and wondered how much all of this would’ve cost us if we’d actually ordered it. Turns out that 4×6’s are sold in sets of two for $14.95 which means that the cost for just the prints alone equals a value of $777.40!!!!! Ya’ll that’s just INSANE!! I also found the Storybook WDW resort album they included on the products page of the photopass website and it’s $19.99. So, altogether this FREE and totally unexpected set of photos is valued at whopping $797.39. There are no words to adequately describe how I felt receiving this amazing gift. To think that this sweet cast member listened to my story, and not only retrieved and extended my photos on the photopass website but she actually had all of these wonderful prints sent too and that’s nothing less than amazing.

2014-08-15 16.52.48

Ya’ll know that I’ve always loved WDW and everything the Disney company represents, but this act of kindness truly goes beyond what ANY company would do for their customers. And just to be clear, I am in NO WAY being compensated to say this and the CM that I spoke with that day had no way of knowing that I actually blog about my Disney obsession. In fact, I actually called the photopass service CM’s again and requested if they could check my account to see exactly which CM helped me that day. And while they weren’t able to connect me to her, the CM that I spoke with this time was so happy to hear my story and thanked me just for letting them know how much happiness they’ve brought our family. She also said that she couldn’t wait to share this with her managers because they absolutely LOVE hearing stories like this from thankful WDW guests. You often hear that Disney’s CM’s are truly the magic of WDW/DL and this just proves it beyond a doubt. So, to that AMAZING CM who helped me and sent these wonderful printed memories, I can never thank you enough. You really are the magic of Disney <3 ~M °o°

Have you had an amazing experience at Disney? Leave us a comment or share with us over on our fb and twitter accounts. We’d love to hear why Disney is special to you too!

p.s. Our car dilemma was solved too and I’m now the proud owner of a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe and am sooo thankful for all of this week’s blessings. 🙂

PhotoPass CM saves the day!

Hey howdy hey, it’s Friday! And I’d like to take today to blog about what happened to me  last Friday. You see, I usually blog here on Fridays but when I sat down to write about my fun times at Star Wars weekends (naturally, since I couldn’t be at comic con) I noticed that I didn’t remember to download my PhotoPass photos in time. Yep, I had let the expiration date come and go. FAIL!

Back in June, my grandmother got sick and passed away as did my great uncle. And between all the funerals and traveling, I hadn’t really had time to think about photos and such. Then, I honestly just hadn’t been back in the right frame of mind to even think about checking them. And yes, the expiration date was July 15.

If I had remembered to get the extension, I would’ve still been within the 60 days. But of course, I didn’t.

And why does this matter? Because I wasn’t lying when I said that I let the PhotoPass photographers do their thing (take photos!!) and I enjoy my time with my family. After all, that’s what they’re there for. What that means, however, is that almost all of the characters we met both at the 24hr Disneyside party AND Star Wars weekends were just GONE. No Skywalker Mickey and Leia Minnie. No Tink, no Belle, no, no, no…

Well, with the encouragement of Amy and Sarah, I decided to go ahead and call just to see. It couldn’t hurt, right?

Once on the phone with the Cast Member, I was just honest. (Yeah, I shared it all with that poor CM lol). Life happened and I just forgot. And thankfully, I got a very sweet CM who completely understood and found them!! She retrieved them and gave me an extension. And I’m not gonna lie, I cried happy tears. Those sweet photos popping back up on my screen truly made my day. So, to that awesome Cast Member, whoever you are out there, thank you for sprinkling a little pixie dust and making that happen for me!! Truly a magical moment!

Luckily, all I had to do was logout and log back in again to refresh my account. Once my photos were all back, I had a fun time actually using the PhotoPass website to add cute Disney frames to some of the photos. They have loads to choose from! You can choose from a basic calendar year frame (says 2014 on it) or stick with theme of the photo (like choosing a Fairies theme for your pic with Tink. And for these types of edits, I chose to save a copy of the photo rather than just save with the decorative edit, just in case I might want to use the photo for something else as it originally looked. It’s easy to do too! Just pick your frame and click the little button that says “save a copy”. This works great for those planning to purchase all of the photos either as a digital download or an archival cd disc. Because you’re already paying for “all” of your photos, adding these in as copies is essentially free! More bang for your buck! 🙂

And lastly before I go, I’d like to mention that these downloadable or archival disc files have their own licensing agreement between you and Disney. Each download comes with a .jpg that states what rights you have to the photos and what you can do with them. Basically, you can do whatever with them as long as you’re not selling them or profiting from them in any monetary way. I’ll admit, I’ve been hesitant to post my purchased PhotoPass photos here in the past because I wasn’t even sure if I had the rights to do so, but thankfully I can share away because I’m not profiting from them.

So very glad I was able to get my photos back! Here are some of the photos that I would’ve otherwise had NONE of! I didn’t even have a photo of us meeting up with our sweet friends while in the MK!

So that’s it folks! Have any of you had a similar experience? What did you think of PhotoPass or MemoryMaker? Is it worth it to you? Let us know by commenting here, on fb, or tweeting us!  ~M °o°

*all photos (except the screenshots) featured on this post are Disney PhotoPass photos and are not edited and will give you a good idea of the quality of photos the PhotoPass and MemoryMaker options offer you.

Meredith’s Trip Report Part 2

Hey howdy hey, its Friday again! And I’m super excited to share with you all more of our Rock Your #Disneyside day. Yep, I’m finally getting around to pt2 of my trip report!! If you missed the first report, you can check that out here.

rockyourDisneysideIMG_5079After lunch, and a little playtime with our friends, we headed back to Main Street for some ice cream and the Festival of Fantasy parade. I was super excited to try out the new (not even officially on the menu yet) Kitchen Sink from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. And although there was no way I could possibly finish this scrumptious treat, I still just HAD to get one. They’re priced at around $15, but there’s enough to feed four easily. Not that you’d want to share, but still. ^_^

rockyourDisneysideIMG_5119We scoped out a shady spot in front of Casey’s Corner  to park the girls (they were both napping in the double stroller at this point) and enjoyed the ice cream. I had a lovely chat with a lady who just happened to be one of our rivals (yes, she was an Alabama fan and you can check it out on my ig) and then enjoyed WDW’s most fantastical AND fantastic parade that I’ve ever had the pleasure to experience. The Festival of Fantasy parade boasts some of the most beautifully designed parade floats and costumes. It also brings a much-needed update to more currently known and celebrated Disney characters while continuing to celebrate some of WDW’s most beloved characters.

You’ll see Anna and Elsa without waiting 300+ minutes as well as the likes of Captain Hook, the magnificent Maleficent in dragon form,  and a very spunky Tinkerbell. The Frozen sisters join Belle and the Beast, Tiana and Naveen, and Cinderella and Prince charming on a ginormous float that leads the parade. Other floats feature the Tangled gang, the crew from Neverland, the Little Mermaid, Brave, and Sleeping Beauty. The parade finishes with a beautifully-detailed float featuring those classic Disney characters that made the Disney name so iconic. You can check out my full gallery of photos here.

I have to say, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather were so unexpectedly cool! They’re actually on some sort of, what I can only imagine as a kind of roomba-type platform, but man! They whizz around and they’re just so much fun to see in person. But for all it’s grandeur, the stars of this parade are actually the costume designers and cast members wearing said costumes. So good are they, that I’d dare say that Disney actually has designers from the Capitol working for them because they so brightly and accurately portray the floats and stories they’re accompanying. All of this combined, make this parade a MUST see for anyone and everyone who hasn’t had the pleasure. It definitely added a fun new thing to experience for those of us who have been in recent years and are looking for something new and magical to do.

Aaaaaaaand, I’m going to pause there for now, more to come soon!! And if you’d like to watch the full parade video now, you can watch the video here. ~M °o°

Have any of you experienced the Festival of Fantasy parade? Where in the park did you watch from and what did you think of it?
