And that’s all I have folks. Stay tuned to hear back from Amy and her exciting trip report from her trip on the Disney Dream! ~Meredith ºoº
Here’s our weekly news roundup for you! Lots of great stuff this week! Y’all ready for this??
•A Night of Joy was a night to remember for American Idol finalist Colton Dixon at this year’s annual special event at Disney’s Magic Kingdom held this past Friday and Saturday. This year’s event was sold out for both nights! You can see the full lineup of who performed when here.
•The winner of Walt Disney World’s Best Grandparent Contest Winner was announced. The contest was held to celebrate Grandparent’s Day and the announcement included an excerpt from the winner’s entry.
•Sarah covered this week’s announcement all about the Halloween Treats to be available beginning tomorrow at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party. The event runs through November 1st of this year. Ticket prices start at $68 and can be purchased directly through the WDW website or by contacting your Disney travel agent. For me, this is one of my very favorites. It’s such a fun and different way to experience the Magic Kingdom and it’s worth it to see the MK transform for a night. And if I haven’t already said it enough on here, the fireworks are the BEST of any fireworks show there. ‘Nuff said! And I can’t wait to see and hear about Sarah’s MNSSHP experience next month!
•Hong Kong Disneyland celebrated 10 years on Friday. The celebrations included special fireworks and an announcement that Fairy Tale Forest will be coming to Fantasyland. The concept art looks a bit familiar, could it be this new area will be akin to the Tangled bathrooms at WDW’s Magic Kingdom?
•This Halloween time, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is also getting into the season’s fun with a special Minnie Mouse transformation. This looks adorable and will be perfect for parents looking to attend the Halloween party but don’t necessarily want to make or buy a costume and either return to the resort to change, or carry the costumes all day long and change in the park bathrooms (People do this. I know, I did it with my girls haha!) It also looks as though you’ll be able to ask for just the hairstyle only during your child’s transformation in case she wants a Princess dress, but the fun Halloween ribbons. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended and the sooner you book, the better!
•The photos taken from this year’s Disneyland’s Half Marathon are awesome and can be found here. The Walt and Mickey couple was super cute, but I think I have to give it to the running churro for best running costume!
•In case you missed it, last night this year’s Miss America was crowned and aired on ABC, But did you know that the contestants actually visited the WDW resort last month as part of their preparations? And can I just say, they picked the perfect CM’s for this video?! Tiana was spot-on and Belle’s voice was near perfect.
And the winner of the Rubba Ducks giveaway is Trish McKenzie! Email us your mailing address to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get your prize sent to you. Congrats and thanks to everyone for entering!
That’s it for today. Join us back tomorrow for more Disney fun! ~Amy ºoº

The Flying Fish Cafe at Disney’s BoardWalk resort will be closed February 2016 through November 2016 for a major refurb.
New merchandise has debuted at Aulani, and I for one think this necklace is beautiful!
The 8th Annual Tour de Turtles took place last weekend at Disney’s Vero Beach resort. Reseachers from Disney’s Animal Programs and the Sea Turtle Conservancy attached satellite transmitters to two loggerhead sea turtles, Tinker Bell and Marina and then sent them on their merry way in the deep blue ocean!
Applications are now being accepted for the Disney Dreamers Academy. High school students can apply to be part of this life changing program.
•Our first bit of news comes straight from and completely about us! And we’re all super excited to announce (drumroll please), that we’re now in the process of recording a weekly podcast for all our readers! That’s right! We’ll be recording and posting a weekly podcast and covering a plethora of Disney topics. We’ve been working hard to get this ready to go and we’re so excited to finally let everyone listen. You can listen to our very first episode NOW!! Yep! Head on over here to listen to episode 1. We chatted about the rumors and truths about Hollywood Studios and what it could potentially mean for that park. So, if you’re interested in hearing about Star Wars, Pixar Place, and more from HS, definitely head on over and listen. And please, let us know what you think? What could we do better? What did you like about it? What would make the next episode better? And is there a topic that you’d like us to discuss? Comment, tweet, or PM us!
You can listen to our podcast either by listening or downloading the episode straight from our website, or you can access us on iTunes by searching for ” The Mouse and the Monorail ” in podcasts. (If you look today and don’t see us, please use the web page for this episode. Apple has informed us that sometimes it takes a few days for it to show up on everyone’s devices). Updated to add: We should be visible and searchable in iTunes now.
And, we can also be found in the Google PlayStore by using the Podcast Addict app to find us.
•We’re gonna go ahead and officially call this one a rumor, but only because we haven’t gotten an official confirmation from Disney. John C. Reilly has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Ralph, from Wreck-Ralph, in a movie sequel!
•A little fun from San Diego Comic Con here: the stars from both Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Peggy Carter had quite a bit of fun taking social media over with their #secretdubsmashwarriors posts. These are super fun and it’s so refreshing to see celebrities enjoying themselves, being real, and letting everyone watch their shenanigans.
•Disneyland is celebrating 60 years and I saw this little article about the first kids in the park and thought it’d be nice and interesting to include in today’s news.
•D23 EXPO 2015 will feature the biggest Star Wars™ and Disney video games in a special presentation in the signature 7,500-seat Hall D23 theater and in Disney Interactive’s pavilion on the show floor.
Here is your weekly recap for news around the world!
Disney has released their room discounts through October 3rd, and free dining for select dates through 12/21. These offers are going fast, and exclusions apply.
The monorail schedule has changed for part of the summer. Beginning May 3rd through July the monorail will run on a limited schedule. Buses and Magic Kingdom watercraft (weather permitting) will continue to operate as usual. The monorail will operate a full schedule from May 24 to 27 for Memorial Day weekend.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is testing pre-ordering of food and merchandise using mobile apps at Backlot Express and during Fantasmic. This could dramatically reduce wait times for quick service food, and this test will use the guest’s phone as an ordering and delivery tracking device.
New high-tech laundry machines are now available for guest use at most Walt Disney World Resort hotels. The new machines let guests check availability via the internet, where guests can view the status of each machine, and receive notifications of machine availability and when a cycle is completed. You can view the machine status for each resort at http://www.laundryview.com/disneyworld. If I have to do laundry on vacation, this will definitely make it less painful!
Pirates of the Caribbean refurb has been pushed back to June 8th. The ride is expected to reopen to guests on September 26th.
Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron releases in theaters today, May 1st.
Disability Access Service at Walt Disney World is now tied to your MagicBands, and paper disability access cards are no longer available.
That’s the news around the world this week. Have a great weekend, and we’ll see you back on Monday! ~A ºoº
Starting today, Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom Park will begin testing breakfast from 8-10 a.m. daily through June 18, 2015! Reservations are required, and I’m thinking it’s going to be a huge hit. You can find the breakfast menu here.
Show Your #DisneySide by voting for your favorite Disney attractions during March Magic. Fans can purchase shirts with their picks at Disneystore.com. I’m loving the Briar Patch Splash shirt supporting Splash Mountain. What’s your favorite?
Frozen Summer Fun Live is returning to Hollywood Studios June 17 – September 7, complete with Frozen fireworks.
Disney Visa card holders have a new discount available. They can enjoy a 30% discount on select rooms booked between 3/23 – 6/12/15 for stays most nights from 6/16/15 – 8/27/15. Some exclusions apply, but if you are a Disney Visa card holder (or are interested in becoming one), you might want to check it out!
That’s all we have for this week. Check back next week for more Disney fun. See ya real soon! ~A
I’d like to take today to recap a bit of what’s been going on here lately. First, we’re trying a new way of doing our trivia days. Due to the way fb works, our questions were oftentimes lost (except for those few constant participants, and we thank you each!). We’re now posting them here on our blog and everyone is encouraged to comment with their answers here. You can still use your fb acct to post your answers. We’re also working on getting an rss feed going so that you won’t have to rely on either directly accessing our blog via the browser address bar or from the oftentimes overlooked or hidden fb links we post.
We’d also like to recommend that you check out our search feature. If there’s anything you’re wondering about in regards to Disney-related travel and more (games, fashion, etc) please don’t hesitate to give it a try! We tag all of our posts and this can be a great way to find info on things that you’re looking for or have questions about. Also, don’t hesitate to ask us via fb or twitter, any questions you might have. If we’ve already answered what you’re asking, we’ll be sure to send you the link to that post. And if not? We’ll get you the answer as fast and as best we can. 🙂
Lastly, our holidays will be a bit different from our regular posting schedule. Next week (Thanksgiving week) we will only be posting Mon-Wed in order to allow us to enjoy our holidays with our families too. December will also be a bit different as we prepare to launch our new identity in early January. If you have a topic you’d like us to discuss, please comment below or contact us via email@example.com or through one of our social sites. And be sure to get your questions in for my Disney Infinity post!! I’m working on it now!
Now to recap a few of my favorite posts as of late, be sure to check these out in case you missed them!
So, until next week, check these links out, give our search feature a go, and be sure to head to your local movie theater and check out Big Hero 6 if you haven’t already!! It’s such an incredible movie and fun for both kids and adults alike. ~M ºoº
